'I basically look like my mom!' Jennifer Aniston channels her formerly estranged mother Nancy to play kidnapped socialite in Life of Crime

Jennifer Aniston channeled a very unlikely source to play a kidnapped socialite in Life of Crime - her formerly estranged mother Nancy.

'I basically look like my mom,' the 45-year-old actress said in a press conference Tuesday - reported People.

'I pulled out a lot of her old pictures and tried to rock the old Nancy Aniston 1970s look.'

The Golden Globe winner famously stopped speaking to the flame-haired 78-year-old after she gave a tell-all interview to Hard Copy in 1996.

Nancy then penned a pitiful 1999 memoir about their rift - From Mother and Daughter to Friends - which detailed Jennifer's various therapists and rise to fame.

Two strokes and a decade later, mother and daughter reconciled with Aniston telling the New York Post: 'Things are now fine between us. All of that is over, and we’re in touch with one another. Today Mom has moved from California and she's living in Colorado, and we speak, and it's all over.'

Life of Crime is a caper about a corrupt real estate developer (Tim Robbins) who refuses to pay his kidnapped wife's $1 million ransom so he can be with his mistress (Isla Fisher).

The dark comedy - in US theatres on Friday - is based on Elmore Leonard's 1978 novel The Switch (the prequel to Jackie Brown).

'I thought [Mickey Dawson] had such a beautiful arc and a powerful one. In that time, to write that for a woman in the '70s was pretty awesome,' Jennifer continued.

On Wednesday, the Golden Globe winner looked lovely before taping an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood.

The We're the Millers star displayed her pert derrière in white skinny jeans, a navy T-shirt, and tan wedges.

Aniston - rocking aviators - went extension free and wore her highlighted bob straight for the sunny outing.

The Office Space funnywoman soon reunited with her Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow, who must be a surprise guest on the late-night programme.

The 51-year-old Emmy winner - clad in a long blue button-up and jeans - will soon reprise her role as Valerie Cherish in the second season of The Comeback, premiering November on HBO.

On Sunday night, Lisa met up with Friends actor Matt LeBlanc while attending Showtime's Emmy bash held at the Sunset Tower Hotel.

However, fans of the decade-long NBC sitcom should still not expect a Friends reunion of movie.

'It's not gonna happen,' Courteney Cox said on the Late Show with David Letterman in April.

'Let me tell you something: there's six friends and I've been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years. It doesn't happen. I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Jennifer will next reprise her man-eating dentist role in Horrible Bosses 2 - due out November 26 - with Jason Bateman, Christoph Waltz, and Kevin Spacey.

As for her long-awaited nuptials with fiancé Justin Theroux, the Emmy winner simply said: 'I'm just excited. I'm happy where I am.'

Aniston and the 43-year-old Leftovers star have spent a large portion of their two-year engagement on separate coasts.
