Agreed, there is something about asymmetry – usually in the form of exaggerated haircuts – that looks, despite the presumed intention of casual charm, a bit try-hard. Nevertheless, earrings of many crazy varieties are enjoying a moment right now and among them mismatched earrings are kind of cute, we think.
Well, mismatching some earrings should be a cinch, I do it every day with my socks, my bra/pants combo… occasionally my shoes if it's been a really heavy night
Actually, somewhere in fashionland, kindly folk have been mismatching things perfectly so you don't have to.
How kind
Yup, this pair from Uribe are an arty investment and, since the droppers are attached to the butterfly clasps, you can swap the lapis lazuli studs for others. Versatile, eh?
OK, anything a little less Arts and Crafts?
For holidays, Rachel Roy's set of six sea charm studs – think mini shells and shark teeth – are a sweet bargain option. Or for even tighter budgets, you can of course raid your jewellery box and just wear a single earring for the ultimate (Louis Vuitton and Céline catwalk-endorsed) mismatch.

Fashion’s Virtual Leap
I buy a lot of things online. I believe online retail is the future, ” designer Rajesh Pratap Singh confessed at the launch of his Mario Miranda & Music men’s t-shirt collection on May 30. The statement couldn’t have been more appropriate: Singh’s t-shirts were being made available for sale only on Myntra, the online fashion store. The tees, priced at `1,320-2,950, feature cartoonist Mario Miranda and his work. “I’ve always admired his work. I added minimal colour and embroidery to the sketches to give them a 3D effect,” explained Singh.
Rajesh Pratap is not the first designer to join hands with the online stores targeting the mass market. In April, Rohit Bal launched an exclusive collection of traditional ensembles for online retailer Jabong. The outfits bore a strong resemblance to Bal’s designer outfits but were priced at `5,999 upwards.
Bal has also created a Biba line for Myntra, as have fellow designers Rahul Mishra, Manish Arora and Anita Dongre. “We’ve observed an increasing demand for designer wear in the last few months,” says Arun Chandra Mohan, founder & CEO, Jabong. Mukesh Bansal, co-founder & CEO of Myntra, says such collaborations are especially beneficial for shoppers in tier II and III cities who don’t have easy access to designer brands.
